multimedia: When the Lights Go Out
Directed by Karen Ducey
Screened at the Seattle International Film Festival 2011
Laser light artist John "Ivan" Borcherding improvises live shows every weekend at the Seattle Laser Dome in the Pacific Science Center, to an audience who assumes his shows are prerecorded. Performing over 12,000 shows in the past 20 years he estimates he has improvised more laser light shows than anyone in the world.
This film was made in five days by students in Ruth Gregory's film class at Shoreline Community College for the 2011 International Documentary Challenge.
